Molybdenum oxide nitrides of the Mo_{2}(O,N,\square)_{5}$ type : on the way to Mo_{2}O_{5}$
2017
Abstract: Blue-colored molybdenum oxide nitrides of the Mo-2(O,N,square)(5) type were synthesized by direct nitridation of commercially available molybdenum trioxide with a mixture of gaseous ammonia and oxygen. Chemical composition, crystal structure, and stability of the obtained and hitherto unknown compounds are studied extensively. The average oxidation state of +5 for molybdenum is proven by Mo K near-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy; the magnetic behavior is in agreement with compounds exhibiting (MoO6)-O-v units. The new materials are stable up to similar to 773 K in an inert gas atmosphere. At higher temperatures, decomposition is observed. X-ray and neutron powder diffraction, e…
Reactivity of H2S and H2S/H2 Mixture With Molybdenum Oxide Thin Films Epitaxied on CoO (100) : Characterization by Rheed and Auger Spectroscopy
2010
Molybdenum-Cobalt composite oxide films were prepared by the evaporation of molybdenum trioxide on a fresh cleaved CoO (100) surface (Thickness = 10 A). The MoO3-CoO interface has been characterized simultaneously by reflexion high electron diffraction (RHEED) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). The thin film structure and composition depend on the annealing temperature. After a 300°C treatment, metallic cobalt islands nucleate at the interface thin film - CoO (100) and crystallize with the cubic FCC symmetry. After a 700°C treatment cobalt molybdate (a CoMoO4) islands grow. The metastable crystallites are epitaxied on CoO (100). After a 900°C treatment, the thin film consists of flat tw…
Molybdenum Trioxide Nanoparticles with Intrinsic Sulfite Oxidase Activity
2014
Sulfite oxidase is a mitochondria-located molybdenum-containing enzyme catalyzing the oxidation of sulfite to sulfate in the amino acid and lipid metabolism. Therefore, it plays a major role in detoxification processes, where defects in the enzyme cause a severe infant disease leading to early death with no efficient or cost-effective therapy in sight. Here we report that molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) nanoparticles display an intrinsic biomimetic sulfite oxidase activity under physiological conditions, and, functionalized with a customized bifunctional ligand containing dopamine as anchor group and triphenylphosphonium ion as targeting agent, they selectively target the mitochondria while bein…
Tungsten oxides as catalysts in selective oxidation
1983
Abstract The reaction of allyl iodide was studied at the surface of four tungsten oxides and molybdenum trioxide. On WO2.95 and MoO3, in which crystallographic shear structures are formed on reduction, acrolein is produced at 300–400 °C, whereas W18O49 and WO2, which do not show this property, are inactive, as is WO3. It is concluded that the transformation of a corner-linked into an edge-linked arrangement of metal-oxygen octahedra provides a facile route for insertion of oxygen into a hydrocarbon molecule.
Propane-1,3-diammonium molybdate
2019
The reaction between equimolar amounts of propane-1,3-diamine and molybdenum trioxide in water led to the formation of single crystals of the title salt, (C3H12N2)[MoO4]. The asymmetric unit is comprised of one propane-1,3-diammonium cation and one molybdate anion. The latter is isolated in the structure and has a slightly distorted tetrahedral configuration. An extensive network of N—H...O hydrogen bonds connects anions and cations, giving rise to a compact three-dimensional packing.
